Dirty Secret

I'm trying to make this one good enough that I won't be ashamed to show it to another person. This may be a surefire path to failure.

Being willing to show the finished product to other people is nice. However, there are two ways to go about doing this. The first, and the one which you've apparently selected, is to write a non-shitty novel. The downside to this is that it interferes with the actual objective of NaNoWriMo, which is to write a novel.

I took the second approach, which is actually helpful in achieving the NaNoWriMo objective: abandoning all shame.

On a totally unrelated note:

Steven King tries to write 10,000 words every single day.

I'm somewhat in the first category myself, though for different reasons.... Aside from the fact that I feel more inspired to keep writing when I LIKE what I'm writing, I also have more support from my family (namely my husband) to keep on writing through the entire month; particularly when things happen like your 2 year old son fractures his elbow on day 1 of writing.
