Sprint to the finish!

Alright, so it's 7:54 PM on Thursday, and I just woke up, ready to start my night shift at 9:30 PM. As of this moment, my word count sits at 34,046. (WPDNTF = 7363) With two days, four hours and fifteen minutes of May left, I have officially run out of procrastination time. I need to write this thing now.

So here's the deal: No sleep until my word count hits 50,000.

15,954 words in that time period? Definitely possible, and with any luck, I should be finished Friday evening some time. But in any case, drastic measures such as this call for a liveblog. So I'll keep everyone posted as this marathon writing session continues, until I either pass out from fatigue and fall short of the finish line, or emerge victorious, ridiculing the lot of you who committed to this thing at the beginning of the month, but ultimately failed in your objective.

Onward! Onward I say!
10:35 PM: 34,046. I'm all settled in at work, the afternoon shift has gone home, and I'm gearing up for a long night of writing. It's not easy around here...even at night, there's too many distractions. I have been unbelievably productive at my job this last month, just because it's an excuse not to write. This project really is geared toward unemployed starving artists. Is it any wonder, then, that NaNoWriMo started in San Francisco?

12:01 AM: 34,700. Happy Friday, everyone.

2:12 AM: 35,846. Of course, tonight of all nights, shit starts breaking down at work and I've been running around most of the last hour trying to put the fires out. I also need to eat something.

4:33 AM: 37,674. 75% complete, but that also means I have to write a quarter of this thing before I can sleep. I think I'll wrap it up for now and get going again when I get home. At least I don't have to work tomorrow...

7:40 AM: Still 37,674. But I am home from work and away from the distractions, I just ate breakfast, and my Oilers hat is on my head inside out and backwards in rally cap fashion. Git 'er done!

10:18 AM: 41,297. A fair chunk still left to go, but getting there.
12:30 PM: 44,176. Uh oh. I hit the end of my novel. Better go back and put in some filler. This could take a while. Better go get some lunch too.

2:31 PM: tknj b kjbnn bbkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk Oops, I wasn't asleep. Really. 46,236 words. I should just start killing off characters at random. That should fill those 3,800 words I need.

3:10 PM: 47,239. So close, yet so far...

3:56 PM: 48,508. Have I ever mentioned how dumb I am for attempting this thing for a second time? Well, I'm mentioning it now. Oh well, at least the finish line is in sight...

4:39 PM: 49,789. Shit, only 211 more words to go (plus 55 to make up for chapter headings, the title page, and other words most people don't count.) I have Queen queued up in media player...

4:53 PM:

I've paid my dues, time after time,
I've done my sentence but committed no crime.
And bad mistakes, I've made a few,
I've had my share of sand kicked in my face, but I've come through
We are the champions - my friends,
And well keep on fighting - till the end,
We are the champions -We are the champions
No time for losers, 'cause we are the champions - of the world
Ive taken my bows, and my curtain calls,
You brought me fame and fortune and everything that goes with it -I thank you all,
But its been no bed of roses, no pleasure cruise,
I consider it a challenge before the whole human race, and I ain't gonna lose
We are the champions - my friends
And well keep on fighting - till the end
We are the champions -We are the champions
No time for losers, 'cause we are the champions - of the world
I'm finished! That's two completed novels for me, if anyone's counting. And remember to check the facebook group; I told all you bitches I would finish at the beginning of the month. But, I also said there would be one other completed novel...
So, to the others who are out there still sweating it out (Samuel and that Paul Knoechel fellow, and anyone else who hasn't been heard from but may still be lurking out there,) keep going! The relief of finishing is like nothing you have ever experienced before, I assure you. To have come this far only to fail is unthinkable. The rally cap salutes you, good sirs.
I should probably get some sleep some time soon, although I'm debating staying up for a while longer so my sleep pattern doesn't get all messed up for the weekend. In any case, I'm going to play We Are the Champions a few more times...

I'm well aware that all of this blogging isn't writing. I'm trying to keep up this blog, write my novel, AND do my job all at the same time. Isn't that fucked up?

Also, I have no idea about Samuel. He is missing and presumed hiding from all the people he's going to owe money to.

Good job, man.
It looks like Paul is going to finish, too.
Let's hope your initial prediction (2 completed novels) was wrong - it would be swell if I didn't, you know, fail.
