What exactly defines a novel from a book? Because although I have a number of words... I have a feeling that Im not writing a novel.

1. It has to be fiction (or at least fictionalized).
2. It has to be a certain length (in this case fifty thousand words).
3. It has to be prose.
4. It needs to be somehow thematically linked with itself. Otherwise it's a collection of short stories. I'd say that, for our purposes, the link can be pretty tenuous if you need it to be.
